UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens
The NC Music Hall of Fame recognizes, promotes, and commemorates the musical heritage of North Carolina. The museum in Kannapolis has been housed by Mike Curb’s Records and Motorsports Museum since 2009. Lake Norman State Park near Statesville is one of our favorite places to go hiking, but the Visitor Center has some small exhibits that you should check out, too. Informative exhibits provide great background on the park and Lake Norman, one of our favorite lakes in NC. The Bob Julian Roundhouse is the largest remaining roundhouse in North America, and is home to locomotives, passenger rail cars, and a full-size replica Wright Flyer. The massive Back Shop, where steam locomotives were once completely overhauled, now houses rail cars of the past, antique automobiles, fire trucks, and the restoration of the Piedmont Airlines’ Potomac Pacemaker DC-3.
